FIRST STUDY: SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY (SEM)

This technique allows for precise observation of the cuticle condition and visualization of the hair surface in great detail:
• The condition of the cuticles before and after using the protocol
• Reducing visible damage
• The repair action directly on the fiber

Measured using an optical microscope on 10 strands, this high-resolution visual analysis makes it possible to demonstrate in a concrete and objective way the effectiveness of the surface repair protocol.

2ND STUDY: COLOR ASSESSMENT

To assess the effect on the sulfur bonds of the hair, the thiol group content was measured using the Ellman test. This test is based on a colorimetric reaction: thiols react with the DTNB reagent to release a yellow compound measured at 412 nm by spectrophotometer.

Two measurements are taken:
1. Free thiols naturally present in hair
2. Total thiols after complete reduction of bridges
disulfides with sodium borohydride (NaBH4). The samples are incubated, neutralized and then analyzed to quantify the thiols from the absorbance obtained.
