What exactly makes hair shiny?
Hair shine depends on many factors, including colour, shape and damage. The condition of both the outer and inner structures of the hair fibre also plays a part: when the cuticle is smooth and closed, hair reflects more light. By contrast, a damaged cuticle (with raised scales) and high porosity affect shine, making hair look duller and feel drier.
